Has Russia Sold Out Iran for a Stake in Israeli Gas?

A fascinating development this. We keep hearing: what will Russia do if Israel is attacked? As the title above implies, Russia may already have sold their Iranian 'partners' down the River Moskva, so to speak.

Here's our article spelling it all out published at Energy Tribune (US) and here The Commentator (UK).

Breivik Gets 21 Years: And this is justice?

The Norweigian court has pronounced Breivik sane. I have no doubt that he is. He planned the whole thing meticulously. He's obsessive not insane. Breivik murdered 77 people. For that the court gives him just 21 years in prison - ensuring he serves a minimum of a piffling 10 years. Just what kind of justice is that?

Breivik is just 33 years old. He'll be back on the streets by, at the latest, the age of just 54 years.

It is indicative of the corruption of the modern mind that few countries have the moral spine, being no longer rooted in  Judeo-Christian ethics that most countries don't have the stomach for the death penalty.   Just how can the state guarantee that a murderous - by his own account - Breivik doesn't kill again?

Whatever happened to peak oil?

The above now published here at Energy Tribune (US) and here at The Commentator (UK). Peak oil alarmists have started running for cover as increasing finds make a nonsese of their predictions. As some of us have been saying for years: for all practical pursposes, oil and gas resources are limitless.

Worstall, Carbon Tax and Floating Polar Bear Syndrome

Tim Worstall strikes again - in his Telegraph blog pushing the 'alternative' idiocy of a carbon 'poll' tax instead of the current raft of green taxes. We need rid ourselves of both, in truth.

For the full article go here at The Commenatator (UK) or here at Energy Tribune (US). But here's a taster:

Worstall’s case is that a simple bureaucratic change of tack to manipulate the free marketplace is the way to go to achieve the goal: state manipulation of the climate.

Not exactly the kind of argument I ever expected a committed free marketeer to make. No wonder University of Houston Professor, Larry Bell, commenting on the new bipartisan mood for compromise among some conservatives in the U.S., tags Carbon Taxomania: “stupidity-on-steroids”.

The fact is that we need to rid ourselves entirely of a plague of green taxes which are having zero impact in the pointless war on a harmless trace and minor greenhouse gas.

Arguing for a state intervening substitution of one failed bureaucratic tax system for another merely avoids facing the real scientific conundrum Warmists are avoiding: How is it that CO2 emissions have continued to rise exponentially while the global average temperature has not risen for 15 years?

Ah, the floating polar bear

But I must mention one other thing in connection with Worstall’s Telegraph missive. Next time such a piece is in the offing, it might be an idea to ensure that it isn’t totally undermined by a dim-witted sub-editor including the iconic green propagandist tool: the image of a polar bear ‘cast adrift’ on an Arctic ice floe.

Yes, his piece is captioned with riotous pomposity: “The man from Whitehall cannot protect this polar bear”.  Ah yes, FPBS – floating polar bear syndrome! The fact is that polar bears can swim. There’s nothing the cuddly imps love more than jumping onto and riding around on ice floes. It’s what polar bears do for fun.

The Great Chemotherapy Racket

I have known about the great chenmotherapy racket for s couple of years - now its official. Chemotherapy not only has an impact ONLY on four types of cancer, it actually makes the cancer spread. Time the medical community, including almost all GPs (who are mostly clueless on this) and most oncologists (!) grasped the truth behind this scam.

FACT: 20 % of cancer deaths are caused by the chemo treatment not the cancer.

FACT: 90% of all cash going to cancer charities goes into new ludicrosuly expensive, and, ultimately, useless chmeotherapy drugs. I would think twice before giving a single penny to a cancer charity. Sadly, too many people are gullible about where their money is going.

Climate Activist Nitwits Think There Are Polar Bears in Antarctica

You'd think that when they are trying to get their sensationalist claims about alleged global warming (which actually hasn't happened at all in 15 years now) they would at least illustrate their case with a fact or two. Unfortunately, so intent are they on their fact-less ideological spin they locate polar bears in the wrong hemisphere. Check it out for yourself herePriceless!

And just in case you think me uncaring about polar bears...here's just one of the photos greensists and dim-witted news editors like to wheel out to illustrate the alleged plight of polar bears.

Aaah....but, unfortunately for greens polar bears are actually thriving as countless reports have shown since the first green  alarm sounds a decade ago alerted us to the facts that they were no longer in one Arctic bay; it turned out they'd simply adapted and moved elsewhere, sadly, too late to quell the senasationalist headlines that persist to today.

Oh, and one other thing they omit to mention: polar bears can swim. And one of their favourite pastimes? Jumping on to ride on passing ice floes. But hey, let's not facts get in the way of a good story.

Cuddly aren't they? Polar bears, that is, not greens - they're downright  dangerous.

UK's Energy Policy 'Schizophrenia' Spreads to Europe

Lancing the Olympics Leftist Boyle

Let's be clear, the Olympics opening ceremony had its moments. The Bond cameo (minus the bizarre parachuting Queen episode), Rowan Atkinson's role in the Chariots of Fire piece, for 'forging' of the Olympic logo, and the excellent Mike Oldfield. But the bottom line was that it was Danny Boyle's leftist politics that, ultimately, took centre stage.

The perverse NHS nonsense, the leftie 60s images (the CND insignia etc) but most of all Boyle's appalling understanding of what he views as an oppressive industrial revolution - a capitalist revolution that pulled millions out of poverty and led, ultimately, to a much cleaner, healthier way of life.

But by far the best take on the whole show came in a short piece in yesterday's Sunday Telegraph from, of all people, Rodney Atkinson, Rowan Atkins's brother. I commend it to you:

Rowan Atkinson's amusing turn was one of the highlights of the Olympics opening ceremony, but his brother, Rodney, is not impressed with Danny Boyle’s production.

“It had strong strands of the parochial Left,” claims Atkinson, who was annoyed by the ceremony’s “assumption that the industrial revolution was oppressive”.

He tells Mandrake: “The truth was that it emancipated us all and especially the ex-rural workers who suffered heavy labour in cold, rain and heat. They then had, by comparison, much less strenuous, mechanised lives.”

The academic adds: “Obviously, the pseudo-intellectual Left have never worked on a farm, as Rowan and I did when we were young. The Left never understand internationalism and the wealth which arises from free trade among free peoples and cultures. That is Britain’s greatest achievement.

"Their aim is supra-national, where peoples and cultures are subsumed, as they were in this ceremony, into a 'levelling’ Statist mish-mash, which inevitably leads to failure and conflict.”

Debunking the Great Carbon Tax Hype

The above article from me now published here at Energy Tribune (US), here at The Commentator (UK) and here at the Canada Free Press.

It reveals how the alleged 'third way' carbon tax- as proposed by those like the Adam Smith Institute's Timw Worstall - is just another climate alarmist 'Warmist' hype. Here's a taster:

Britain (and Germany’s) anti-carbon war has actually succeeded only in hiking taxes, providing a windfall for government, driving up energy costs, hobbling industry competitiveness, costing jobs and dumping half a million people into fuel poverty while having precisely zero impact on carbon emissions. Tim Worstall’s ‘solution’ proposes the assimilation of the pestilence of (failed and financially sapping) green taxes into a socially ubiquitous carbon ‘poll’ tax toward, as even Worstall admits, is an entirely “uncertain” end of ‘man-made’ climate manipulation.

Or put more succinctly: translate the unworkable into the unacceptable to achieve the delusional.

Anti-Israel Culture War of British Elites is NOT a Grassroots Movement

The above titled piece from me just published here at The Commentator. Here's a taster:

"While it is patently true that too many of our leading British academic and cultural institutions are in the thrall of cabals of left-wing activists, factor in public backlash that often does not attract mainstream – read liberal – media coverage, and the inherently English (note, I do not say British) instinct for fairness, and anti-Semitism is far from rife at the British grassroots."

Fracking The Movie(s)

A plethora of fracking movies is highly revealing that shale fracking is now frontline in the energy - environment debate. But checking the fare on both sides, it quickly becomes apaprent which is innuendo and pure propaganda and which is more concerned for hard facts.

The full article is published at Energy Tribune (US), The Commentator (UK) and Canada Free Press.

Here's a taster:

But Gasland’s scary image of ‘setting water on fire’ via a domestic faucet displays a gullible naivity in failing to understand how the natural phenomenon was present way before energy companies ever set foot on the land. Just for good measure, one local farmer demonstrates how methane in water is perfectly common and harmless drinking a glass of water from an aquifer where fracking is currently taking place.

When it comes to Fracking The Movie then, you can be sure of two things. First, the average media hack will likely characterize the pro and anti-fracking ‘movies’ as ammunition in a ‘propaganda war’. That may be the case with theanti-fracking movies, but it is far from the case with the pro-fracking responses. The fact is that Fox’s Gasland is replete with gross misrepresentations which both Truthland and Not Evil, Just Wrong have each labored to correct.

A Mormon President?

Mormon Temple, Oakland, CaliforniaI regularly write for the US Reformed Christian newspaper Christian Renewal. They have just published this latest from me offering the thoughts of a non-US citizen and voter suggesting how Christians should view a potential Mormon candidate. Here's a taster:

The issue is whether Mormonism is simply a variant type of Christianity. The salvation issues taught by the LDS shows plainly it is anything but a variant, being neither “mainstream” nor “Christian”. That does not mean that Mitt Romney would not make a good president, nor would handle the US economy better than Obama, nor that he would be anything other than a good family man, husband and father. The larger point is that the November election is not going to be between a Christian Obama v a pseudo-Christian Romney. The former will run on his presidential record; while he still fails to answer serious questions about the nature of his professed Christian faith (and there is much evidence that it is lacking). The latter, will run largely on his past good economic and business record; while a professing member of cultic Mormonism.

However US CR readers or US Christians more generally vote in November, it is important not to allow the world to believe that Mitt Romney is a Christian; or that Mormonism is anything less than a fully-fledged cult with core tenets of faith a million miles away from mainstream, historic and biblical Christianity.
